Chums and Crumbs was very pleased to welcome Dunstable’s new Mayor on July 25th when Louise O’Riordan visited the group accompanied by Michael Watts, Asda Dunstable Community Champion. Blues supporters will recognise the help and support the Club has received from Asda by the shirt sponsorship for the Walking Football team.
Louise met with Club Chair, Andrew Madaras, before joining the group for tea and cake and a couple of games of Bingo.
She was extremely complimentary about the group and the valuable work it carries out to support people who may be lonely, socially isolated or who enjoy making friends in a caring and supportive environment.
Posting later in the day about her experience, Louise wrote;
“On Thursday, I attended the Chums and Crumbs group which is part of the community element of Dunstable Town Football Club and what a wonderful community it is.
I was warmly welcomed by Andrew who explained how DTFC is structured and how they have as much investment in the local community as much as they do with football and supporters. They really are giving back to the community.
I had a lovely cup of tea, chat and 3 games of bingo of which I won 2 games! A total fluke and I really don’t think they’ll want me back to play bingo! The 2 volunteers (Angel and Molly) on the day are great with people and have a really relaxed and friendly relationship with the group. A social prescriber (Helen) was also present (she is also a very good bingo caller!).
