Dunstable Town’s longest league trip of the season typically picked a day for the game to be abandoned just before the half hour mark with the referee deeming areas of the pitch becoming unplayable following a downpour.
The pitch was soft pre-game but despite the ball still rolling and bouncing the match wasn’t being helped by the short heavy burst of rain just before it was abandoned.
Most felt the game could continue or be suspended for 20-30 minutes as the rain stopped and blue sky appeared but to no avail, while others thought it wasn’t going to produce a game of a high standard given the conditions and possible risk of further rain.
The game itself wasn’t pretty but Erald Desa looked the likeliest to open the scoring for the hosts with a few efforts on goal while Town tried to work the channels in an attempt to adjust to the conditions but were unable to create a clear cut opening.
The top end of the pitch seemed to take most of the water which most of the spectators who were based on the halfway line or bottom end were unable to see as the referee consulted both managers before signalling for the game to end.
Town are due to be at home to Tring Atheltic next Saturday subject to the weather and playing conditions.
