We’re sad to inform supporters and sponsors that our friend & former manager Gareth Jackson died yesterday following a long illness.
Gareth took over as First Team Manager following the departure of Tony McCool in 2019 and produced some of the best performances of the season including a home win over Bromsgrove Sporting & an away win at Corby Town.
Gareth held a UEFA B licence and it was his work in the Club’s Development team that caught the eye of Tony McCool. Gareth became Tony’s number two and, in a season, when the Blues played without any playing budget in the Premier Division of the Southern League he management duo kept the Club afloat with relegation only confirmed on the final day of the season.
He helped nurture the careers of several players who have gone on to play higher up the pyramid, including Eric Ameyaw who left the Blues to sign for Fulham at the end of Gareth’s first season in charge.
Gareth stepped down as First Team Manager in September 2021 but retained many of the
friendships and contacts he had made over his time at the Club. He returned to Creasey Park as a fan and stood shoulder to shoulder with the Regiment home and away.
The Club will pay tribute to Gareth’s life with a minute’s applause at Saturday’s home match against Colney Heath.
