Dunstable Town U18’s 3-1 Welwyn GC U18’s
Dunstable Town under 18’s took maximum points from this double-header of two games of 60 minutes at Creasey Park on Thursday night.
Needing to take all six points from both games to keep within distance of Colney Heath and Oxhey Jets they started the first game with a goal on 5 minutes when Alfie Young scored from close range.
They had a few opportunities to double their lead but had to settle for a 1-0 scoreline at half time.
Young added his second in the 52nd minute but the visitors responded with a free header at the back post to pull a goal back two minutes later.
Young scored his hat-trick with a minute remaining to seal the first three points on the night.
Welwyn GC U18’s 1-2 Dunstable Town U18’s
The second game was a tight affair with minimal chances.
Welwyn took the lead in the 7th minute but Town responded immediately with a superb strike by Owen Russell who found the top corner with an arrow of a shot from to equalise.
The game seemed to be petering out for a draw with some tired limbs but the last few minutes brought drama when Welwyn appealed for a penalty, which was turned down then with 60 seocnds left Town broke up field with Young finding the net much to the jubilation of the Dunstable contingent.
